Glimmers. It’s a fairly new term used within mental health, to describe those small moments of joy we experience in everyday life. It was coined by Deb Dana, who specialises in complex trauma. She describes glimmers as being the opposite of emotional ‘triggers’.
Glimmers are small moments that spark a positive emotional response. Being intentional about noticing our glimmers can be beneficial to emotional wellbeing.
The concept I’m working on is that these paintings ‘light up’ when you look at them from different angles as you move around the room. My hope is that they catch your eye and your attention throughout the day - working as a reminder for you to look for your own glimmers, for your own joy and calmness.
